Chamah has celebrated their 23rd Annual Dinner on October 28 at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Battery Park, New York City.
An exciting guided tour of the museum's Living Memorial to the
Holocaust was given followed by cocktail party and an elegant dinner.
Welcoming the guests, as Master of Ceremonies was Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Jacobson, one of the most sought-after lecturers in the Jewish world and leader of Congregation Bais Shmuel.
Businesspeople Moshe and Shaindy Lax were Guests of Honor, while Mendy Chudaitov, a young businessman and donor, was presented with the 2010 Young Leadership Award. Alex Tounkel received a Humanitarian Award along with Boris Kaplan, a young businessman who arrived from Moscow to attend the Dinner.
Vladimir and Ludmila Baumblit served as this year's Dinner Co-Chairs.
They are saluted Chamah's activities in the United States, Israel and Russia which include soup kitchens, "Meals on Wheels" programs, home care for the elderly, senior citizen centers, community centers, day care centers and youth programs.
Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein, founder and president of the IFCJ who could not attend, sent greetings via a pre-recorded video message.
The guests were treated to a musical concert, with Chamah's Directors, Rabbi Hillel Zaltzman, Rabbi Moshiach Chudaitov and Rabbi Binyamin Malachowski warmly thanking the participants for their support.
