Chamah in Moscow set up a series of telephone-based educational lectures for seniors. They eagerly await the classes!

Chamah Food Distribution in New York

Many individuals living close to the poverty line, as well as many large families and elderly are still suffering the effects of coronavirus pandemic. Our food distribution gave out tons of pounds of food. Thousands came to pick up large food boxes which included meat, fruits, vegetables, and other essential grocery items.

Festive evening saluting May 9th, Victory Day over the Nazis, arranged by and held at Chamah Center in Kiryat Malachi.

Opening remarks were delivered by Chairman of the Veterans and Holocaust survivor followed by "Yizkor" and Kaddish prayer in memory of those killed in battle and murdered at the hands of the Nazis. Numerous officials greeted the audience and commended the occasion by remarking that in merit of the Veteran's courage and faith, the Jewish Nation lives on and thrives in our Homeland, Israel. The evening was accompanied by the "Israel Police Orchestra". Participants enjoyed a festive meal and received complimentary gifts. They joyfully danced and did not want to leave until late at night.

National Russian Shabbaton

Over 1200 participants joined the 12th National Russian (virtual) Shabbaton which took place on May 23. Eighteen hours filled with inspirational lectures, musical entertainment, interactive question and answer session and more. Sponsored by Chamah and LYO; this dynamic event was free of charge.

Russian Seniors Enjoy Outdoor Trip

Russian seniors were excited to attend the educational and enjoyable outdoor excursion last week. They visited historical sites of the southern coastal region of Israel, enjoyed a beautiful lunch on the pastural grounds of "Kibbutz Negba". The talented tour guide treated the group to a song session, playing his accordion to Russian folk tunes and popular Israeli songs of yesteryear.

Chamah Builds New Day Care Center for Children in Kiryat Malachi

A new day care center for children is being built adding to the chain of Chamah Day Care Centers already in service. Supervised by the Israeli Ministry of Labor and Department of Welfare, the day care centers provides nurturing care for young children enabling their parents to work. As we have reached maximum capacity, this new day care center will accommodate the many children who are on our waiting list.

Pesach Food Packages

Chamah provided over 10,000 Pesach food packages to elderly, vulnerable people and families in Israel, Russia and New York. The food box contained wine, chickens, fish, eggs, dry goods, dairy products, canned products, vegetables, fruits and more. In Russia, as our beneficiaries are ages 75 and up , they received the food boxes home delivered. In Israel and New York a special drive-in center was set up to accommodate the logistics of the operation. Chamah also distributed special Pesach kits comprised of the Seder night platter and materials for an at-home Seder night experience. Chamah thanks its sponsors, partners and friends who helped to make this program possible.

Bar Mitzvah Celebration at the Kotel

Chamah arranged a beautiful Bar Mitzvah occasion for Olim from the Caucasus region. The program included a tour of the Old City in Jerusalem and the emotional ceremony of donning tefillin at the Kotel. Parents, relatives and of course the Bar Mitzvah boys thoroughly enjoyed the event!

The story of our Exodus is especially meaningful as many remember their lives in the Soviet Union under the oppression of the ruthless Stalin regime.

Chanukah celebrated at Kiryat Malachi

Veterans and Seniors greatly enjoyed the delightful Chanukah celebration. The program included kindling of the menorah, festive meal with traditional "sufganiyot" entertainment, singing and dancing!

Emergency Response Packages

The mission of Chamah in providing humanitarian aid takes on a new meaning during the Covid19 pandemic on how to serve the vulnerable population who rely on our help. Chamah met that need by distributing thousands of care packages to help brighten the New Year. With the help of the IFCJ; Chamah distributed emergency response packages to frail and ill seniors in Russia. In addition, Chamah distributed food packages to needy families in Israel.

Chamah intensifies its humanitarian efforts in Israel by delivering food packages to needy families. As many cities are under lockdown due to high rate of infection, Chamah also distributed toys helping to make the children happy.

With the generous support of the IFCJ, Chamah continues to provide humanitarian assistance to needy elderly in Russia. With the novel coronavirus pandemic ongoing, and ensuring the safety and health of the seniors, Chamah mobilized its programs to at-home care and services home delivering nutritious meals, household products, medicines, personal hygiene items, protective equipment and more.

Coronavirus Relief Efforts

In addition to the horrific loss of life, the Coronavirus pandemic has had a devastating financial impact on millions of impoverished, elderly, and large families who are already struggling daily to feed themselves and their families. As the days and weeks pass, those who were out of work were falling deeper and deeper into despair. Chamah has responded to the heart wrenching pleas for help, including from many people who never dreamt of needing help before.

Food Package Distribution in Honor of Shavuot

Chamah International delivered thousands of food packages in honor of the Shavuot holiday. The parcels included delicious dairy products as is customary to eat on the festival. Needy children and families were delighted to receive the package!
