The steady bombardment of Kassam rockets on Sderot is causing heavy damage to the city. Sderot, Ofakim and neighboring towns in southern Israel are not only plagued by terror, but with high employment rate causing many families to live under the poverty line.
Chamah is distributing food and care packages to the towns citizens who cannot afford the luxury of uprooting to other cities.

Shabbat Nachamu, July 27-28, 2007, Chamah hosted over 50 families from the Russian Federation at its campus in Kiryat Malachi. The participants enjoyed festive Sabbath meals, lectures and symposiums. Exciting activities were arranged for the children. The quality time spent together in a warm atmosphere cultivated an openness for new experiences and opportunities.

Chamah is greatly honored to have Ms. Terry Meyerhoff Rubenstein, the Executive Vice President of the Joseph and Harvey Meyerhoff Family Charitable Funds, together with Executive Officer of the Jewish Agency's Education Fund visit the Chamah Campus on Tuesday, the 3rd of July. More significant was the attention dedicated towards the Rebecca and Joseph Meyerhoff Community Center building in Kiryat Malachi .

This past Shabbat, 26th of May, Chamah hosted a group of students learning at "Machon Medrasha" from Jerusalem. "Medrasha" is geared for post high school youth from the Diaspora to study and tour in Israel for the scholastic year. The students were greatly impressed by the quality of the Chamah campus; the dormitory, dining room, lecture hall etc.

Gan Chamah celebrated the graduation of its students today, Friday, the 25th of May 2007. As every year, prominent members of the Ministry of Education, various government officials, family members and past graduates of the Gan Chamah school participated in this festive event.

The constant barrage of missiles being launched by the Hamas terrorist group upon the southern city of Sderot are leaving its mark on its residents. To give them a rest, Chamah hosted dozens of families at its campus for the Shavuot holiday.

A special convention for the volunteers of "Bikur Cholim" was held at the Chamah Center in Kiryat Malachi. "Bikur Cholim" is an organization reaching out to the ill and their families providing hot meals and care. The participants enjoyed a festive meal and an inspirational lecutre on the significance of giving and receiving.

Chamah is in the height of preparations for its annual summer day camps in Russia, USA and Israel. The camps are appreciated for their high quality and many needy children benefit from the various activities, outings and other exciting programs that the camp offers.

This May marks 40 years to the Release of Jerusalem. Chamah arranged a pleasant tour of Jerusalem for new immigrants. They were full of emotion upon visiting the various sites throughout The City of Gold which they yearned to see for decades. The tour was concluded by praying at the Wailing Wall.

Chamah in Moscow commemorated the victory over the Nazis. WWII Veterans enjoyed a festive meal and visited monuments relating to the theme.

Throughout Israel, World War II Veterans commemorate the 9th of May, marking the victory over the Nazis. At the Chamah Veteran Clubs the seniors enjoyed a banquet attended by government officials, Members of Knesset and Mayor of Kiryat Malachi.

About 100 young adults learning in the "Mechina Program" spent this Shabbat at the Chamah Center in Kiryat Malachi. The Mechina Program is an independent project assisting immigrants from Russia and Ethiopia who wish to learn higher education but are hindered academically, economically and culturally .

As every year, Chamah distributes tens of thousands of food packages for the Passover holiday for the needy in Israel and Russia. The packages contain Matzot, wine and basic essentials for the holiday.
