Over the Rosh HaShanna holiday, Chamah hosted at its campus close to 100 immigrants. Throughout the country they came to experience an inspirational and traditional Rosh HaShanna. The guests greatly enjoyed the customs for the New Year and of course the holiday meals with delicious cuisines. At the close of the festival the Olim had but one wish; that Chamah invite them once again for next Rosh HaShanna!

Over the Sukkot holiday, Chamah hosted 100 students from the CIS studying at the Na’aleh Program of the Jewish Agency. The students immensely enjoyed the warm hospitality that Chamah offers its guests.

On the first of September, Gan Chamah proudly opened its doors to 150 children. In its 16th year, Gan Chamah has been educating hundreds of Jewish children and has received numerous prizes for its achievements.

In the series of weekend retreats hosted at the Chamah campus in Kiryat Malachi, the weekend prior to Rosh Hashanna was dedicated to a group of students learning at the Be’er Sheba University. The main theme being “Creation of the World and Modern Science”. The students were amazed at the comfortable accommodations, meals and lectures arranged for them.

In honor of the upcoming New Year, Chamah arranged a festive evening to celebrate the upcoming Rosh HaShana at its campus in Kiryat Malachi. Hundreds of immigrants from the Russian Federation enjoyed the program which included a festive meal, greetings from the local Mayor and toasts to the New Year! Chamah extends warm wishes to all of its kind supporters and friends a very healthy, happy and prosperous New Year!

Since the units at the Chamah Campus in Kiryat Malachi have been recently renovated, the series of weekend retreats have expanded. Hundreds of immigrants from throughout the country have been hosted at the premises enjoying a relaxing and intellectually challenging occasion.

During the summer months, the elderly immensely enjoy the magnificent gardens at the Humanitarian and Medical Centers of Chamah. The lush greenery and scenic pathways along with the lovely gazebos offers the seniors the opportunity to relax and rejuvenate.

As every year, the 9th of May is a joyous day at Chamah and for all WWII Veterans around the world. This day commemorates the victory over the cruel Nazi regime. Proudly adorning their awards, the Veterans gathered for a festive occasion arranged by Chamah. Songs composed in honor of the evening were sung by a special children's chior. The Veterans remembered their fallen comrades and shared stories of courage, faith and inspiration.

The Gan Chamah Chess Team participated in a chess match amongst other junior chess players in Moscow. A proud Mordiga Yevgeny from Gan Chamah won the prize for his outstanding performance!

Anna Leibergot won first place by playing her musical instrument at the Jewish Art Festival of the Jewish Culture Centers in Russia entitled "Kol Rina". As the first place winner, she will be participating at the International Art Festival to be held in Washington D.C. this August. Anna, we at Chamah are real proud of you!

The Weekend Retreat Program has intensified as the sleeping units at the Chamah Center have been renovated comfortably accommodating close to 100 people.The upgrades include new bathroom tiling and accessories, air-conditioning, kitchenette, furniture and linens.
The recent group from the southern towns in Israel such as Be'er Sheba, Sderot, Ofakim and other neighborhoods in close proximity to the Gaza strip thoroughly enjoyed the Weekend Retreat held at the Chamah Campus in Kiryat Malachi. The crowd was comprised of new and veteran immigrants in which the latter will “adopt” the new immigrants easing their absorption.

As Sderot and southern Israel is constantly under bombardment from missile attacks, Chamah gave the immigrants and seniors a respite from their daily stress by treating them to a full day trip up north. The tour included visiting the Rothschild Gardens, Atlit Museum, Haifa and various points of interest in northern Israel. The participants fully enjoyed the excursion and in addition to learning more about our homeland, it provided a much needed break from their tension. FOR MORE PICTURES

Chamah in Israel is distributing food packages to needy families for the upcoming Pesach holiday. The package includes oil, Matzot, wine, infant formula and other essentials. Approximately 500 families in the southern town of Ofakim received the food packages. The difficult economic situation has caused a great increase in the number of requests for help. Chamah was honored to host Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein, President of the IFCJ, and his dear wife, Joelle Medina Eckstein. Rabbi and Mrs. Eckstein toured the institutions of Chamah in Moscow and participated in the distribution of humanitarian aid to the elderly and ill. They enjoyed a hot meal at the Chamah Soup Kitchen and were greatly impressed with the life saving activities of Chamah. The Ecksteins also visited Gan Chamah and other Chamah facilities.

Chamah hosted various groups of Olim from the southern region of Israel such as Be’er Sheva, Sdeort, Ofakim, Ashkelon etc. at the Chamah campus in Kiryat Malachi. They enjoyed a joyous program which included a cultural activity introducing them to our heritage and traditions .
Chamah hosted approximately 60 youth from Russia at the Chamah Campus in Kiryat Malachi . The students are learning in Israel in the “Na’aleh Program” of the Jewish Agency.

Chamah arranged and hosted a festive convention for holidays. The seminar was attended by hundreds of immigrants from the FSU living in Kiryat Malachi, Sderot, Ofakim and towns throughout the southern region.

Also joining the UJA assembly were Mr. Alik Nadon and other representatives from The Joint Distribution Committee in Moscow and Mr. Mark Levin, head of the National Conference of Soviet Jewry in Washington DC and Hillel Zaltzman, President of Chamah.
The group noted the magnitude of people served, how efficiently the programs are run and the cleanliness of the facility commenting “it looks like a spa”.
Most of Chamah’s beneficiaries hold college degrees and have served their country for decades. Now in their “golden years” they cannot live on their meager pensions and fortunately have Chamah who assist them in a most dignified manner.

Hundreds of youngsters enjoyed the day camps that Chamah arranged in Israel, Moscow and New York. Along with the trips and exciting activities the campers benefited from a nutritious breakfast and were also given the opportunity to experience Jewish traditions. They are eagerly awaiting next year’s day camps!
